Biography

YURI YOSHIKAWA
Soprano

Yuri Yoshikawa, born in Nagasaki (Japan) in 1983, obtained a degree in singing from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 2005, Conservatorio di Musica di Latina “O. Respighi” with top marks in 2011 and in chamber vocal music from Conservatorio di Musica di Roma "Santa Cecilia" with top marks and honors .



Performed the Adele role in “Die Fledermaus” operetta in Tokyo during the university period and took part as soprano leggero in several concerts in Japan. Furthermore, she performed the role of Serafina in the Donizetti’s Campanello in Latina, the role of Mimì in the Puccini's La Boheme and the role of Queen of Night in che Mozart's Magic flute.

Yuri Yoshikawa won several singing competitions, as for example: the “53rd National Competition for high school students (sing category)” obtaining a scholarship for a master in singing in Wien (1999); the “First National Competition in vocal chamber music for high school students” obtaining a scholarship for a master in Italy (2000); participant to “International Contest Hans Gabor Belvedere” as winner of the Japanese selections; “New Talents Concert” (West Japan) awarded by the Music Association of West Japan and by the Education Department of Fukuoka Prefecture, thanks to the brilliant performance has been considered the best talent of the last ten years by the press (2005); finalist of the “First International Competition of Romanza Napoletana” at Torre del Greco; the “19th International competition for Lyric Voices Giacamo Lauri Volpi; and the "International competition Rolando Nicolosi".
 

In 2006 she took part at the W.A. Mozart’s “Requiem” concert performed in Nagasaki as soloist soprano. In 2007 Yuri Yoshikawa has been invited at the “Nagasaki Music Festival”. During her career she also received the “Award for Culture and Arts” from the Nagasaki municipality, the “Award for Cultural Activities” from the Nagasaki prefecture and the “Premio Immagine Latina 2008”.
In addition to the above she also has been awarded with the prestigious Rotary International scholarship in 2006.
